LODEMATIC GETS SYNETIX OUT OF A TIGHT CORNER

Lodematic supplied a Gruse Scissor Lift HF-2HT-S20 Table Truck, which was fitted with a specially narrowed chassis to enable access to the stairway and to allow movement around the processing plant where space is very restricted.
Product handling specialist Lodematic (Handling Systems) Limited provided the solution when Synetix, who manufacture catalysts for the chemical industry worldwide, needed to lift heavy motors and gearboxes to and from machines and transfer them up, over and through a short but narrow stairway at its Clitheroe site. Mechanical lifting was essential, following an internal risk assessment, in order to comply with the I.C.I. Group of Companies Safety Standards.

“The stairway is the only route by which we can take out and bring in the motors and gearboxes”, explains Synetix Production Manager Stephen Scott. “Lodematic visited site to assess the application and then produced designs for approval prior to supply of the unit”.
In addition, because of copper content in the atmosphere within the plant, where slurry consistency product is dried in high temperature ovens at up to 1500ºC, a special PVC cover was supplied by Lodematic to protect the hydraulic rams and other parts of the unit when it is not in use.

Concludes Stephen Scott, “We chose Lodematic as we like to use local suppliers wherever possible and we were aware of the quality of their products and services as we already have Lodematic Lifting equipment elsewhere on site.
